YORUBA AGENDA MUSLIMS SIDELINED

YORUBA
AGENDA: MUSLIMS SIDELINED; ISLAM REBUKED AS YORUBA ELDERS GATHERED FOR
RESTRUCTURING

#officeoftheameertaawun

Yesterday,
at, Lekan Salami Sport Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan , Oyo State capital,
prominent Yoruba elders (all Christians) and other eminent Nigerians gathered
for a mega summit to give condition for one Nigeria. But it was a surprise that
no single Muslim scholar, Islamic organisation and Muslim elder were well
represented or considered in what they called “Yoruba standpoint on
restructuring”.

The summit
had in attendance, representatives from the Yoruba speaking people and leaders
from Kogi and Kwara States and the Diaspora. Likewise, the President General of
the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze, and leader of the
South-East, Chief John Nwodo as well as the leader of the South-South
delegation, Chief Charles Horsefall. They all demanded for a structured Nigeria
as a condition for an indivisible country.

The
gathering gives less or no value to the Yoruba Muslims and shows how less
important the Muslims would be if the said agenda is achieved. How on earth can
people be calling for restructuring of a region when the majority of that
region are being rebuked, molested and not given recognition in a summit where
we are to decide our existence?

A former
Minister of aviation, Femi Fani Kayode said in his speech, “ they brought
Sharia law; they brought Boko Haram……..” Who is he referring to? If they were
not Muslims then they would be the Northerners. Does Sharia law belong to
Northerners or Muslims? So how can Muslims go along with those who hate their
religion in the said Yoruba standpoint on restructuring? Never! We would rather
remain as Yoruba Muslim to defend our religion than being part of your
restructuring.

Peace will
never reign in any community or Nation that harbours religion sentiment, hatred
and injustice. Let there be justice if we are to demand a restructured Nigeria
and let all be inclusive if truly we are to have one Yoruba voice. But with
what is on ground now, the Yoruba Muslim stands alone and sooner we will
declear our own stand.
