It was a remarkable day yesterday (18/03/2018) as the long awaited scheme to assist in empowering women, retrieving them from taking usury for sustainability and curbing them from engaging in activities which add to their family problems was initiated yesterday by the founder and National president of Jama’at Ta’awunil Muslimeen, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan at Ta’awun central mosque, Oke-Afo, Iwo, State Osun, Nigeria

The Muslim Women Empowerment Scheme under Islamic Centre for Research and Human Development was borne out of concern for women who are the backbone of every successful home and for every Muslim who wants a better future for their children.

The occasion was graced by important personalities, such as: Engr Moshood Oriolowo, the director of RAN, Engr Abdul Mumin Olabanji (Raff), Hon Rahman Lawal, chairman Iwo East local government, Hon Debo Badru, Oba Abdul Hafeez Badeji, Onikoyi of Ikoyi , High chief Yekini Orobimpe, the Oosa of Iwoland, High chief Abdul Rauf Muraina, the Balogun of Iwoland, High chief Fatai Alani, the Onto of Iwoland among others.

The Royal blessing was given by Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi (Telu 1), who in his message, advocated for love and individual closeness to Almighty Allah.

In his message, the founder and national President of Jama’at Ta’awunil Muslimeen, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, made it known that the government would not able to do everything people are in need of, that was why the idea was brought. “ It has started since January and today we have the cause to thank Allah for its results. We reached out to many to assist in the programme but only few responded and that does not deter us. And by Allah’s grace, we will extend it to other cities in the state” he promised.

He further explained that the programmes would include, Giving out loan without interest to women; Weekly enlightenment programmes; Adult Education to eradicate illiteracy among women; serving as consultancy firm in resolving family issues; involving in establishing Islamic Microfinance Bank which will kick off in due time; and Serving as intermediary between the well wishers and the needy women. “Though, the programmes is centred on Muslim women but the beneficiaries are both Muslims and Christians” Sheikh elucidated.

Donations were made to further expand the programmes. He then thanked Engr Oriolowo who has been assisting the programmes since its inception.
